Recorder Tuition

I teach at my studio in West London, and am always delighted to hear from potential new students. Over the past decade, I have taught a wide selection of pupils, from the ages of 5 to 84, and enjoy teaching both adults and children, from beginner through to Grade 8 and beyond.

I do my utmost to tailor my teaching style to each of my students individually. I believe that each student has different strengths and needs, and that the real purpose in learning a musical instrument is to enjoy the process and to achieve high standards alongside a genuine appreciation of musical language and theory. I have had several years of experience teaching to exam requirements, and regularly submit my students for ABRSM examinations with great success. However, many of my students simply learn for fun, and it is equally satisfying to see their progress as the years go by. I always teach with historical context and historically informed practice in mind; I strongly believe that these can be incorporated into lessons from an early age.

If you would like to organise a trial lesson with me, I would be delighted to hear from you - please contact me.

Group Coaching/Masterclasses

I am available for group coaching and Early Music masterclasses, alongside my harpsichordist Thomas Allery. We are also very happy to host ensemble coaching sessions at our studio in West London, where a single manual harpsichord by Alan Gotto (2016) is available for use by our students.
